Women have different hairlines than men. If you look closely you will notice most women have a more rounded hairline and Men generally have a hairline that is horizontal to the ground and have more obvious temple points. This is not desirable in the female or in the female transgender patient. Transgender or transsexual patients who have undergone the conversion of male to female will benefit greatly from a female hairline and it will complete the appearance. Generally transgendered females are self conscious or embarrassed of their hairline especially if the wind blows and allows their male hairline to become evident. You should also note that male pattern balding diminishes greatly after starting female hormone therapy and once transition is complete. You may still need adjunctive treatment with Finasteride a 5-alpha reductase blocker that prevents the conversion of the small amount of testosterone to DHT. DHT is the hormone that is responsible for hair loss in male and female pattern balding.
