Scalp Scar Repair

Dr. Goertz performs scar repairs or revisions on all types of scalp scars.

There are two different approaches to repairing a scalp scar. For some patients, hair follicles can be transplanted directly into a scalp scar, filling in the area. However, for most patients the best solution is excision to remove rigid scar tissue. The follicular units on either side of the scar are then carefully realigned to leave the site of the scar nearly invisible on the very day of the surgery. Healing takes approximately 7-14 days the results leave you with a very fine virtually undetectable line where there once was a visible scar.
