Eyebrows are the seat of definition and expression for your face. Whether absent as a result of injury, plucking, or the betrayal of genetics, the results can be vexing no matter what your gender.

Of course everyone is familiar with the old standby solutions: the eyebrow pencil, or perhaps the more esoteric art of tattooing; but did you know that it’s possible to transplant your own hair for healthy, sustainable eyebrows of your own?

That’s where the talent of board certified surgeon, Dr. Brian Goertz comes in. Dr. Goertz knows that it takes more than mere skill to sculpt a brow-line (or hairline for that matter), it takes artistry.

His eyebrow transplantation procedure generally takes less than three hours. The transplanted hairs often shed after two to three weeks, but begin to grow anew within three to five months. Those follicles will continue to perpetuate growth for the remainder of your life. (Note: Early-on, the transplanted hairs will need to be trimmed for length, but will end up inheriting some of the growth traits of the transplant region.)

Whether you want brows that emulate a conventional shape, or perhaps something more dramatic, Dr. Goertz can design a brow frame that provides your face with the punctuation you had always hoped for.

Eyelash Transplantation

The absence of eyelashes can be problematic no matter what your sex. Whether it be for practical reasons - the extra level of protection they offer from dust and debris, or the cosmetic definition they add to ones eyes, missing eyelashes can be a legitimate concern.

The eyelash transplantation method offered by Dr. Goertz is a restorative procedure with cosmetic benefits. Based off of the pioneering strand/sew technique devised by Dr. Marcelo Gandelman, eyelash transplants are intended to replace missing eyelashes, and should not be approached as a method for extending their length.

Similar to a conventional hair transplant approach, the donor material for eyelash transplantation come from the posterior of your scalp. Not all people are candidates for the procedure however; Donor hairs need to be of an adequate thickness for eyelash transplantation.

Mustache Transplantation

Have you ever wished that you could substantiate a full, broad mustache? Believe it or not, there are still a lot of grown men who can only grow the mere suggestion of a mustache. If you are one of the millions of guys who are left thinking that they are just plain out of luck, there is good news; You may be a candidate for mustache transplantation.

Generally, facial follicles are more wiry than scalp hair. Depending on ones individual’s hair type – fine versus coarse, Dr. Goetrz may suggest that donor material come from a small patch underneath the chin (rather than the usual donor site at the back of the scalp). Chin hairs have the same roughness and inelasticity as mustache hair, and often produce the most natural results.

A mustache transplant can also be an excellent way to subdue the appearance of scarring or trauma to the upper lip. In many cases Dr. Goertz can minimize the effect of scarring by extracting portions of the effected tissue and realigning the hairs in the region to make the existing damage less evident.

Scalp Scar Repair

Before and After: Same Day

A scalp scar can come about from any number of causes. Denser than regular skin, scar tissue can disrupt ones natural hair-flow and leave regions of the scalp hairless. For some patients, hair follicles can be transplanted directly into a scalp scar and continue to grow naturally; but most of the time, the best solution is to excise the rigid tissue and repair the alignment of the surrounding hairs.

For the best surgical results scars should range from 1.5 centimeters (5/8th inch) to 25 centimeters (10 inches) in length. Candidates for the excision procedure have their scars meticulously removed under high magnification. The follicular units on either side of the scar are then carefully realigned leaving the site nearly invisible on the very day of the surgery.
